Northshore is special, and I know it sounds cliche, but it's the truth. This is truly such a progressive place. This is one of the premier districts in the state. There's great balance between academic rigor, but also establishing positive relationships. Everything we do is meant to be as organic as possible. I think Northshore is really focused on the whole child. The Northshore journey is a framework for what we want students' experiences to be from K to 12. We really do believe in educating the whole child, and we move mountains to make that happen. We nurture every aspect of childhood, from physical development to artistic development to emotional development. So many schools are so driven by test scores and what's the data showing. This is not necessarily that place. It's more about kids, how are they doing? How are we teaching them to survive in this future world that they'll be embarking in? Every single student is known by their teacher, by the administration. You would think this is a private school. I think the teachers in our district take the time to get to know the students. They care about them. They think about them on the weekend. They are always trying to grow and to make their teaching better, and I think that's very different than some other districts where they might feel that they're doing what they're supposed to do, and at the end of the day, they leave. Teaching is not about planting the information in students' minds. It's about making students willing to learn, and that's something that our teachers do very well because they are so personable and so kind. There's a respect for the individuality of every teacher and for every student, and so when you combine those two, that's where we get real programs that have real impact and real outcomes. As we try to help students through their journey, we really try to harness what they do best. So students find their strengths and interests by being able to choose their electives. So outside of the normal electives, you have creative writing, public speaking, forensics, our Viking Explorers class, multiple tech electives, a bunch of STEM electives. And we've created a safe place where if something is not here that they want to create, they have the abilities to do that. It all connects in a beautiful way, and when those connections happen, it's when the education magic happens. As a community, we came up with these shared valued outcomes, which are thinkers, problem solvers, communicators, collaborators, innovators, and committed individuals. Really it's the skills that we know you need to be a successful adult. We are a partnership. We're a partnership with the students, we're a partnership with the parents. I think if I were a parent looking for a school district, I'd be wanting to look for a home, and North Shore will be that for their student. It's a place where you can feel comfortable sending your kid knowing that they're going to be protected and allowed to explore the intricacies of what life will bring to them. I think the care we show for others here is what sets this place apart. We're a family, and we care about our kids, we care about each other, and that makes this place like no other place.
