We were honored to film the 2nd Annual Marty Lyons Foundation Gala as they celebrate their 35-year dedication to fulfilling wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses. With over $43 million raised and operations in 14 states, the foundation has supported over 8,400 families. The event features Lazahyra, a soon-to-be wish recipient, highlighting the profound impact of wishes as a source of hope for families in challenging situations. The gala includes a wish auction to raise funds for future wishes, encouraging attendees to play a role in positively impacting the lives of children like Lazahyra.

Welcome to the second annual Marty Lyons Foundation Gala. First of all, I want to thank the volunteers, the heart and soul of the foundation. Tonight, we’re going to honor five people that have been with the foundation over 35 years. You helped us raise close to $43 million. Now we operate in 14 states. And the biggest number of all, at the end of this year, we will have sponsored over 8,400 families. A lot of people don’t realize what a wish actually does. It was always a constant struggle to stay on top of things. That’s what made the Marty Lyons wish so special. It was like someone saying, we know your struggles are ongoing, but you still deserve to enjoy life. It felt as if someone threw me a lifeline of hope. Please welcome a soon-to-be wish recipient, Lazaria and her family. Mr. Marty had a brother pass away a couple months back. His brother lived in Florida. We’re from Florida. And they’re down there burying a family member, but they also came and checked on us. This is the type of organization we’re in. She is the most incredible person in this room, without a doubt. And it’s really our pleasure to be able to grant your wish. I wanted to go on the Carnival Mardi Gras. Lazaria, you and your family, all love to you guys. You guys are warriors. I love cruises. I love Mardi Gras. Let’s do this. I think there’s nothing else to say, but pack your bags. Let’s start the wish auction to help grant a wish. Anyone at the $100 level, light up your wand. $500, $1,000. Anybody at the $1,000 level? At the $2,500 level, we’ve got one, two, I see three, four, five, six, seven. Anyone else, eight? Let’s hear it for all of our donors tonight, helping to light up the room with the wish auction. I always say, we live for today to see a better tomorrow. And each and every one of us have that responsibility to make this world a little bit better. So I thank you for coming out tonight. And I ask you, what are you going to do?
