Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the Marty Lyons Foundation Gala. We want to thank you once again for joining us to honor the children and to celebrate 40 years of making their heartfelt dreams come true. You know, you look back at 40 years and you go, wow, it’s been a long time, and it all happened because I said, you know what, there’s got to be something that we can do to help preserve life, to help create hope. We now operate in 14 states, we’ve helped over 8,200 kids, and we’ve raised over $40 million. This time, I want to bring up another athlete here in New York that’s truly making a difference, John Franklin Myers. Thank you very much for everything you do. Really, all I want to say is thank you for the opportunity to work with the Marty Lyons Foundation. My grandpa died from cancer, so what an opportunity I have to help somebody else and help raise awareness at the same time, so thank you guys. I have the pleasure of introducing the real stars of this evening, the children. We have Eve, whose wish it was to get a behind-the-scenes experience at animal sanctuaries. Come on up, Eve. Linda Jean Lewis, representing her brother Stephen Johnson, who was the foundation’s first wish recipient. This time of the year can be tough for our family. It’s so good to focus on the living legacy that you’ve built, Marty, as opposed to the loss, and that’s what keeps us going. So this celebration really has brought us back home. Thank you. Thank you for that. I need everybody to stand up and give these children a round of applause. This is the real reason we’re here tonight. It’s a privilege to be here with all of you to celebrate and share in the joy of Luna’s wish reveal. Luna, I know that you’re an avid soccer player, so on behalf of the Landtek Group and the Marty Lyons Foundation, we’re going to swing by your house in the middle of January and build you an artificial grass field. We’re going to give everyone here the opportunity now to help make wishes come true. If you’d like to grant a wish for a child at the $5,000 level, stand and light your candle. Let’s have a nice round of applause for all of our $5,000 pledges. Yeah! We’re now at the $2,500 level. We’ve got another $2,500 pledge. Let’s keep the applause going. We’ve got another one. We’re up to four. How many candles can we light at the $1,000 level? 10, 11, 12, 13, 14. I see you people. The most important thing that each and every one of us have to do is find your purpose in life. So I thank each and every one of you for being part of that. I wouldn’t be the person that I am today, I wouldn’t be standing here in front of you if I didn’t have all your support and your love. Thank you.
