About This Video Project
Steven who utilizes the services of AHRC, advocates for different causes and works along with AHRC to get relevant bills passed in Albany. In March, they were able to secure a lot of money for housing. This year, they hope to have a conference in person, where they will use audio and switchboard technology to ensure the mic is good. They have even met the Lieutenant Governor and the Governor of New York to discuss how to make things better. This video highlights the importance of using your voice and empowering yourself through learning. With the support of their manager, AD, and supervisor, AHRC is dedicated to helping people with disabilities and bringing satisfaction and happiness to all.

We advocate for different things, they’ll go to Albany, I just did in March, and they’re getting some bills done, a lot of money for housing, of course, is the biggest thing. Hopefully this year there will be a conference in person, I’ll do the audio, big room, I’ll sit there with the switchboard and make sure the mic is good, not good. And sometimes I introduce a person, I met the lieutenant governor when I was there, and even the governor of New York, and I told her, this has to be fixed better, and she knows it. If you don’t use your voice or empower somebody, you’re going to be on the sidelines, and I empower myself by learning. I get a lot of support from my manager, my AD, the supervisor. I just want to keep helping people, that’s the most important thing for me. It makes me feel satisfaction and happy.
